Treatment at Glenbeigh addresses the special needs of each gender, taking into account a history of trauma, domestic violence, self-esteem issues or shame created by the cultural bias toward both genders specifically related to addiction.
Glenbeigh provides an environment where our patients feel “safe” and comfortable talking about problems they may never have faced before.
Special facilities and services for inpatient treatment and extended residential care include housing in separate areas of the hospital where each gender have their own lounge areas to ensure privacy. Most groups are gender specific as well as meals, fitness, expressive therapies and other specialty groups.
Gender specific programming provides the opportunity to gain support from same gender peers in order to deal with sensitive issues and begin the healing process.
Dual-diagnosed patients participate in specialized groups designed to promote positive self-image and help them understand how their mental and emotional disorders influence recovery. Psychiatric consultations and follow-up are provided for those in need.
